Management of the Lotus Notes environment
The Glidepath offer
GlidePath provides management of PwC Lotus Notes services (Nice). GlidePath hosts the infrastructure of the Lotus environment of PwC Netherlands. This environment is currently being used by 5500 consultants for the exchange of daily operational information and knowledge.
The managed services contract for the Lotus Notes environment involves the management of 150 servers, covered by one single Service Level Agreement GlidePath that guarantees optimal availability of the PwC Notes environment. Due to the reduction of the number of daily operational problems, PwC consultants can therefore operate considerably more efficient and be more productive. Subsequently, the client service level has improved.

- Availability guarantee on the NICE production, test and development services.
- Management of incidents, problems and changes for the whole environment
- Security management to monitor access events and notify and report on access violations and take countermeasures.
- Capacity and performance management to actively measure system and service health and pro-actively propose performance enhancements and advice is expansion is required.
- Provide contingency by performing required backups to be able to restore the services.

In 2000 a review of our IT specialists has shown a significant opportunity for operational efficiency improvement in our Lotus Notes environment.
However, this opportunity required a strategy change in terms of repositioning our management and control over the entire Lotus environment. In practice this has lead to a concentration and centralisation operation in which all Lotus Notes applications are now being centrally hosted and operated by Glidepath. The project also included a big reassessment of all applications. In a centralized environment applications should comply with centrally developed standards. This efficiency operation finally delivered a 20% reduction in Notes administration costs, while at the same time, the availability improved to 99,999% for the PwC professionals".
